RTI’s International Education Division is supporting education development around the world by strengthening education policy, management and practice in order to achieve measurable improvement in teaching and learning.
RTI is recruiting for multiple positions for a four-year education project in Kenya. The USAID-funded Kenya Tusome Early Grade Reading project is a basic education initiative to improve the reading skills of approximately 5.4 million Kenyan children.
1. The Deputy Chief of Party- Programs
The DCOP Programs will oversee, supervise and guide the technical aspects of this large, national project.
She / he will support the Chief of Party in leading project implementation and coordinating State level project.
As a member of the Senior Management Team
She / he will work closely with the DCOP Operations and serve as the acting COP as required.
She / He will oversee and provide guidance and support to technical staff to implement program components, including support for early grade reading instruction, teacher training, and youth and partnership funds management.
Qualifications:


  • A Master’s degree with 12 years of relevant professional engagement in the education sector with proven management and implementation experience.
  • Prior experience managing large-scale projects of US $20 million or more with geographically dispersed teams is preferable.
  • Prior experience and familiarity with donor project management policies, procedures and reporting requirements a must, particularly USAID.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, financial management and team work skills required, along with fluency in English.
  • The Regional Officer will oversee technical, administrative, and financial operations of the regional office. 2. The Regional Officer
    The Regional Officer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of technical efforts in the field by coordinating programmatic information and providing support to facilitate the implementation of activities.
    This is a field based position whose actual location will be determined.
    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with at least 8 years’ of experience in the management and coordination of development programs in the education sector.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating project and field program work is required.
  • Experience with donor program management policies, procedures and reporting requirements is a must. 3. The Training Specialist
    The Training Specialist will have the overall responsibility for organization and implementation of Tusome project capacity building/ training activities, workshops, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
    She / He will coordinate logistical arrangements for all field based program activities, events, etc. and work closely with Technical staff to ensure the successful implementation of training activities.
    She / He will facilitate collaboration with other USG assisted programs when training needs or activities overlap with those of Tusome Project.
    This is a field based position whose location will be determined.
    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with at least 10 years’ experience or MA degree plus 6 years’ experience.
  • Excellent coordination, organizational, and managerial skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. 4. The Education Officer
    The Education Officer will provide technical support for the development of lesson plans, teacher / student materials and specified frameworks as funded by the client and agreed with the Ministry of Education.
    These include working with RTI technical staff to identify, develop, and harmonize effective literacy and numeracy instructional approaches to be used in the early grades.
    The Officer will also provide support for TAC tutors and instructional coaches working to implement revised lesson plans.
    This is a field based position whose actual location will be determined.
    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with at least 8 years’ of experience in the management and coordination of development programs in the education sector.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating project and field program work.
