Foundation Scholarship:
Working to Advance African Women (WAAW)
foundation scholarship program offers $500/year for need-based female African
students admitted to a University, College or institute of higher learning in
Africa.
These scholarships for women in Africa
are renewable annually, following proof of the student’s continued academic
performance. Scholarships application deadline is December every year.
Africa Women
Scholarship Application Eligibility Criteria:
Female students of African origin, who
have gained admission to an institution of higher learning in Africa.
Able to demonstrate financial need.
Excellent academic record.
Special consideration will also be
given to underprivileged students, orphans and children of widows, students in
the first or second year of study, and students admitted to engineering, math,
technology and science based programs.
Your application
package must include the following:

A 1-2 page essay on your future career goals and how you expect the
Working to Advance African Women (WAAW) foundation scholarship will assist in
fulfilling those goals.
Two letters of recommendation, preferably from academic
mentors/advisors.

ILFA Flagship Programme Legal Internships in London, Paris and Dubai
ILFA Flagship Programme (Placements in London, Paris & Dubai)
Applications are invited for the 3 months’ advanced training and work experience placements starting in September 2015 in leading law firms or corporate legal departments in London, Dubai or Paris.
ILFA Flagship programme facilitates interchange opportunities for African lawyers to take part in a three-month secondment programme in law offices of international law firms and corporations based in London, Paris, and Dubai.
Additionally, the programme provides an academic enrichment series that incorporates training modules on various topics relevant to the African legal sector.
Finally, the ILFA lawyers undergo intense seminars at the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge Universities

Kenya Masters and PhD Scholarships; Ministry of Environment Water and Natural Resources - Call for Scholarships Applications.
Background:
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources is developing a System for Land-Based Emissions Estimation in Kenya (SLEEK), which will allow the Government to track carbon emissions from the land sector.
SLEEK will combine weather data, biological growth models (capturing carbon emissions and sequestration from trees, crops and soils), and lands cover maps to estimate the changes in Kenya's land-sector emissions over time. It will also develop scenarios and models to assess changes in carbon emissions in response to land use changes.
The program is supported by the Government of Australia through the Clinton Foundation.
As the part of the process of developing the system, a number of Masters and PhD scholarships will be offered to Kenyan citizens to support the development of the system. These scholarships will include tuition, stipend and required equipment. The topic will cover:
- Methods for assessing changes in soil carbon - Understanding of plant growth processes - Climatology and weather modelling - Land cover mapping and change detection - Assessment of forest biomass
Masters Criteria
The applications will initially be screened for course eligibility by a team of experts from the respective institutions. Qualifying candidates will be invited for interviews.

The Hilde Back Education Fund (HBEF) is an Organization that is committed to the promotion of Education as a Fundamental Human Right.
The Fund sponsors academically gifted but needy students to secondary school.
HBEF hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and eligible Form One students for the 2015 scholarships.
Limited scholarships to students joining public secondary schools will be awarded.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for consideration, the applicant student must:
The sponsorship will cover tuition fee only for a period of four years of secondary education effective 2015.
Beneficiaries will be expected to maintain good academic performance and conduct in order to continue with the sponsorship.

Complete and submit the HBEF Scholarship Application Form available at HBEF offices in Nairobi and in all the respective County/District Education Offices from Tuesday 6th January 2015
The following supporting documents should be included in the application:
Applications from students who do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered.
Similarly, late or incomplete applications will be disqualified.
Short listed applicants will be contacted by HBEF for interview details and final award.
Canvassing or giving of false information by or on behalf of the applicant will lead to disqualification of the application concerned.
Successful applicants and their host schools will be notified on or before 30th January 2015.
