1. Team Leader – Assets to Adolescent Girls in Kenya
DAI is an employee-owned global development company.
For 40 years, we have worked on the frontlines of international development, tackling fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governments, and instability.
DAI is preparing for an anticipated DFID and the Nike Foundation funded Programme; Assets to Adolescent Girls.
The programme will aim to address constraints to the economic empowerment of adolescent girls in developing countries.
It will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and operate across Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Grantees of the Programme will receive financial and non-financial support to develop their products and business models.
Requirements:
At least 15 years of experience working in private sector or development, at least ten of which focusing on product design, market development, SME development, and/or business systems, ideally with a focus on women and girls in the developing context
Experience working with DFID, USAID and/or other large international donors, strong understanding of donor requirements
Extensive experience and knowledge of working in Africa and South Asia
Experience working towards the development of women and girls
Proven track-record of successfully delivering complex multi-component donor-funded programmes, including major grant components
Proven experience building high-level partnerships with technical experts and private sector
Strong team leadership, communication and management experience
Understand key approaches to M&E, including use of logical frameworks
Excellent reporting skills together with financial management
Excellent communication skills, including strong presentation, networking and facilitation skills
Experience ensuring Value for Money (VfM) as per DFID guidelines
Extensive experience delivering against defined milestones and targets
Education:
Advanced Degree in Economics, Finance or Business or other related field preferred.

2. Knowledge Management Expert - Assets to Adolescent Girls in Kenya, Nairobi
Requirements:
7 years of experience working with knowledge management
Experience working with international donor-funded projects preferably DFID, international non-governmental organisations on relevant programs in increasing economic growth, market development, employment and incomes
Strong skill set in reporting, monitoring and evaluation
Strong knowledge of Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and the rest of the target countries would be an advantage
Ability to effectively represent the programme with the community and donors
Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with staff, donors, government counterparts and other stakeholders
Demonstrated experience working effectively in team environment
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, strong facilitation, training, and writing abilities
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English is essential
Education:
Advanced Degree in Communications/Media or other related field preferred.

3. Business Growth Specialist – Assets to Adolescent Girls in Kenya
The successful candidate will work directly with the grantees and facilitate access to partners and technical assistance to identify, support and scale businesses that have products and services that benefit girls. The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work in close collaboration with the Country Relationship Managers and Girl Design Specialist to support an innovative portfolio of businesses to refine and scale products that benefit girls at the country-level
Identify and coordinate technical assistance for entrepreneurs
Provide on-going assessment of grantees and make recommendations for their business advisory needs
Support the development of local partnerships, providing information and forging relationships with local service providers, investors, and private sector businesses
Work with the Country Relationship Managers to develop a database of pre-approved international and local technical assistance providers covering the following services – business development services, sector specific technical support, distribution and logistics support and girl safety support
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years’ working at the cutting edge of development, product and business development, and/or social enterprise
Experience in management of teams
Strong working knowledge of the private sector
Strong local network of private sector and business leaders, development experts, mentors, investors, development programs and NGOs, etc.
Experience working with innovative social enterprises and SME’s to grow and scale
Understanding of human centered design (HCD), prototyping, business and financial modelling, investment and venture capital, distribution and marketing, and other elements critical to scaling successful products and businesses
Project management skills and ability to manage consultants and resource partners
Ability to identify challenges and match expertise to problems for solutions
Experience working with woman and girls in the development world
Proven experience developing and managing networks of local and international organisations from the public, private and third sectors
Excellent communication skills, including strong presentation and facilitation skills
Fluency in English (both written and oral) and fluency the primary language of the country of work is essential
Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa and/or South and South East Asia is highly desirable

4. Communications Expert – Assets to Adolescent Girls in Kenya
Scope of Work: The Communications Expert will be responsible for the overall design, development and management of the programme’s communications strategy and the external outreach and visibility initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement an effective communications strategy to attract a diverse and sufficiently large volume of local and internal applications for the grantee programme
Manage the project’s public annual events such as; launch events, investor events, alumni events and policy relevant seminars
Make sure the programme’s digital platform is maintained and kept up to date
Lead effective external outreach campaigns, ensuring visibility of the Assets to Adolescent Girls programme with relevant audiences
Update and modify the project’s communications strategy to reflect evolving communications priorities and changes in the project structure
Manage innovative communications interventions in the region that contribute to the overall programme’s objectives
Implement innovative communications tools and programs to build knowledge and awareness of the grantee programme (i.e. mobile, radio, etc.)
Develop press releases to local media; video/documentaries for television and/or distribution
Monitor and communicate results
Requirements:
10 years of relevant experience

5. Country Relationship Managers in Kenya, Rwanda or Uganda – Assets to Adolescent Girls
This critical role will work directly with grantees and facilitate access to partners and technical assistance to identify, support and scale businesses that have products and services that benefit girls.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for supporting an innovative portfolio of 6 businesses to refine and scale products that benefit girls at the country-level
Identify and encourage businesses and individuals with innovative and scalable product ideas to apply for the program support and grants
Co-ordinate the relationships between the grantees, mentors and technical assistance
Develop and manage the Girls Advisory Committee (to consist of 5 or 6 girls per country)
Support the development of local partnerships, providing information and forging relationships with local service providers, investors, and private sector businesses
Identify challenges for product and business growth and identify appropriate technical expertise
Negotiate the use of workspaces by grantees in innovation labs or hubs in country
Develop a database of pre-approved international and local technical assistance providers covering the following services – business development services, sector specific technical support, distribution and logistics support and girl safety support
Work with the Investor Relations Manager to source corporate sponsors to provide financial and non-financial contributions to grantees enterprises
Work with Communications and Knowledge Management Advisor to promote programme learning and sharing of achievements within country and between other programme target countries
Requirements:

6. Grants Manager – Assets to Adolescent Girls in Kenya
Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish robust and transparent grants procedures in line with donor guidelines
Manage day-to-day operations of Grant Funds
Ensure wide publication of proposal/bidding calls and targeting publicity to ensure the best possible submissions are received
Overall financial management of the funds
Assess financial and administrative capacity of grantees and training and coaching grantees to enhance their capacity in these areas
Contribute to efforts in meeting donor reporting requirements as well as reporting to London home office
Track and document fund disbursement and estimated future spending
Lead a fraud mitigation strategy
Requirements:
7 or more years of experience working in private sector development, with at least 4 years’ experience of managing grant funds
Experience in managing challenge funds or grants programmes
Experience in fraud management
Excellent communication skills
Strong understanding of key approaches to monitoring and evaluation and the delivery of value for money for donor clients
Experience working in Kenya or East Africa
Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential
Certified Public Accountant qualification is desirable

7. Operations and Finance Manager – Assets to Adolescent Girls in Kenya
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Team Leader in managing supervisory programme staff in completing timely activity budgets and work plans, as well as ensure regular reporting on all activities and advisory services provided under the Assets to Adolescent Girls Programme
Work directly with Finance Officer and Grants Manager on personnel, finance, procurement, and grants policies and issues as they arise
Work with technical component leaders to ensure that all targets and deadlines are achieved according to workplans
Ensure programme finances and management practices are in compliance with DAI and DFID contractual rules and regulations
Finalise Terms of Reference (TORs) for all Short-Term Technical Assistance – both national and international – and work to ensure compliance with agreed budgets
Deputise on all aspects of operational management of the programme
Serve as the Team Leader’s advisor on all contractual and financial matters with DFID, Partners, and Subcontractors and play a key role in the preparation of budgets
Regular drafting and compilation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports, as indicated by the Team Leader
Represent DAI– along with the Team Leader – at Client meetings and otherwise as required
Work directly with DAI Head Office on programme, implementation, personnel, and budget issues
Provide operational advice and guidance to the Team Leader on an on-going basis
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of donor reporting systems
Experience working on grants management programmes
Experience in setting up grants funds would be a distinct advantage
Experience in working and living in Africa and South Asia countries
Strong skill set in reporting, finance and monitoring and evaluation
Experience working with donors such as DFID, UNDP or World Bank
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English is essential
Certified Public Accountant qualification is desirable

8. Monitoring and Evaluation Expert – Assets to Adolescent Girls in Kenya
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement gender sensitive M&E systems and processes
Ensure baseline data collection is conducted at the start of the programme and that data is collected regularly against indicators
Work with the grantees to establish effective business relevant monitoring and learning systems
Develop and drive a sound project performance monitoring and evaluation plan
Develop monitoring and evaluation reports. Monitor overall initiative on a monthly basis to inform six monthly recommendations for programme improvements and adaptations
Develop monitoring and evaluation strategy so lessons learned are incorporated into activities to achieve greater impact. Produce six monthly summaries of lessons learned from all aspects of the programme to package and disseminate results
Develop sound performance management indicators
Requirements:
7 – 10 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation
Excellent project management skills
Strong understanding of key approaches to monitoring and evaluation and the delivery of value for money
Experience working on donor funded projects, ideally with DFID
Experience in monitoring and evaluating Grant Fund/ Challenge Fund Projects
Fluency in English is essential
Experience working in Africa and South Asia is preferred
Good people and communications skills
Education: Advanced Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation or other related field preferred
