The County Government of Nyeri through the Department of energy is keen to overcome problems in the energy sector in order to meet the expected economic growth that would provide considerable social and economic benefits to the residents.
This target can be achieved through the utilization of renewable energy power plants and specifically solar photovoltaic (PV) in the County through a comprehensive Investment in a solar farm.
In its efforts to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency in the County, and in order to reduce the gap between supply and demand, the County is launching its first pilot solar project in Nyeri so as to produce electricity from renewable energy technology.
The County Government invites an Expression of Interest (EOI) from eligible investors and firms willing to undertake a solar farm project through leasing of County land to implement this project.
The project will involve development, financing, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance thereby providing sufficient clean and sustainable green energy.
The County invites interested and capable investors and eligible firms to submit expression of interest (EOI) for the project with the following eligibility and qualification criteria

Project development and installations experience of more than 100 (mw) Mega Watts.

Successful wide project management and implementation experience in at least three countries.

Project development and management experience in Africa in 100 megawatt range.

Employees with wide solar development and financing experience for more than 10 years.

Technical capability including mode of financing to enable realize the project within one year from the date of acceptance

Firms will be expected to have local input in terms of personal, and also establish training division and maintenance unit

Firms will be expected to show and demonstrate management of succession plans.

Firms will be expected to state clearly preferred mode of financing the project

Demonstrate successful track record of implementing similar projects.

Expressions of interest must be submitted in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked with the Tender name and Reference Number and be deposited in the Tender Box,
