Procurement Manager
We are seeking to recruit an
experienced, proactive and dynamic Procurement professional with overall
responsibility for managing procurement for the British Council Kenya and our
Regional Office based in Nairobi.
The post holder will lead on all
aspects of procurement and will ensure that the procurement strategy is
followed and that commercial and professional good practice is adopted across
all teams.
The post holder will be required to
lead the sourcing process, prepare tender and contract documentation and
undertake tender briefings and negotiations with external suppliers in relation
to purchases, developing supplier risk plans and liaising with appropriate
staff.
Key areas of responsibilities:-

Managing the supplier and stakeholder relationships and negotiating supplier
agreements.
·
Negotiating with suppliers on behalf of British Council Kenya to obtain
the best possible purchasing terms and conditions.
·
Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of vendors.
·
Leads the sourcing process and run tendering exercises in line with
British Council global policy.
·
Liaise with all teams to ensure a consistent approach to strategic
sourcing.
·
Ensure best practice frameworks are in place to deliver value for money,
and be able to identify and secure savings for the organisation.
·
Monitor compliance with corporate procurement policies and standards,
code of conduct, operating guidelines and local regulations.
·
Advice and guidance to operational teams throughout the procurement
lifecycle.
·
Procurement training.
·
Work within, and make a significant contribution to a high performing
Business
·
Support Services team.
Qualification and Experience
·
A relevant degree level qualification (Finance and/or Business and/or
Management).
·
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply
(MCIPS)/other relevant professional accreditation.
·
Good understanding of local, European and UK Public Sector procurement
rules and legislation.
·
Strong relationship building, negotiation and influencing skills.
·
Financial, Business and Management skills.
·
Market analysis and business intelligence.
·
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in comparable roles.
