Djibouti Programme (LWF) is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for
the following positions,to be based in Dadaab Refugee Camp.
1. Audiologist
He/She shall be responsible for provides hearing evaluation and
consultation services to the learners to facilitate the personal, social
and intellectual development.
In order to respond to individual needs of the learner at Dadaab refugee camp.
He/she must work closely with the staff and administration of the EARC.
Duties and responsibilities shall include but not limited to the following
Planning, coordination and program development
Coordinate audiological services with the SNE services provided in the camp and manage its effectiveness,
Design and implement a mass hearing screening program to meet the local education needs.
Responsible for scheduling appointment for audiogical
evaluation, administering standard diagnostic tests and procedures in
keeping with individual learner needs
Responsible for making recommendations regarding the need for
further audiological or other support services Coordinate ontological
services, assist in making decisions on placement and assessment
services for other children being considered as children with special
needs.
Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modification and appropriate classroom strategies.
Monitor learner’s progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.
Provide individual assistance to hearing learners with communication or educational deficits.
Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Qualifications/Professional Skills
Bachelors in Education specialising in Special Needs Education
Bachelors in Audiology
4 years working in an Educational Assessment Centre (EARC) or any related field.
Knowledge in Audiometric testing and interpretation
Previously worked in a hardship or marginalized area.
Proficient in the use of computers for basic office packages such as M/s office suit.

2. Community Service and Development Officer
He/She will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing operational
plans in the Community Service Department, while working hand in hand
with the other Sector Heads to improve proper operations and management
of the Community Service Sector.
The incumbent will report directly to the Project Coordinator.
Duties and responsibilities shall entail but not limited to:
Responsible for development of unit specific concept notes, project proposals and budgets.
Provide technical support to your supervisees in project planning, implementation and M&E of the sector activities
Support Programme that benefit the community and in line with the vision and mission of the Organization
Coordinate needs assessment in units within the sector
Support in training and building capacity of Community Service Staff.
Responsible for direct supervision and management to all staff within the community service sector
Responsible for Community Service Staff appraisal
Responsible for all other forms of sector specific
documentations which include regular Human interest stories, success
stories, best practices
Responsible for drafting of sector specific consultancy ToRs/MoUs.
Further responsible for spearheading dissemination processes and workshops that touch on community service sector
Professional Qualification:
A degree in social science, project management, community
Development from a reputable institution or a related discipline would
be considered.
Working knowledge and experience of humanitarian principles,
SPHERE and UNHCR standards and field security protocols and procedures
Excellent computer skills in word processing, database management, spreadsheets, use of internet and email.
Proven academic and/or on-job training on ‘Project Cycle Management”.
Relevant Experience:
At least 3 years of progressive experience gained within an international humanitarian NGO will be an added advantage.
Previous interaction with Persons Living with Disabilities (PWD’s) will be an advantage.
Experience and skills in developing proposals, concept papers and reports writing.
Ability to manage a team and relate well with the host community.
Experience in conducting trainings, facilitation and capacity building of staff
3. Education Officer
He/She will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing operational plans in the Education Department.
He/she will work hand in hand with the other Education Officers to
improve the proper operations and management of the Education Sector.
The incumbent will report directly to the Senior Education Officer or
his/her designate, while working closely on a daily basis in
collaboration with Education staff and other sectors of LWF.
Duties and responsibilities will include
Setting short and medium term Education program plans and
budgets in liaison with the SEO and other Education Officers; and plans
and monitors performance against those plans.
Assisting with planning and design of primary education
activities and measures of achievement and collecting data for LWF/DWS
Education performance monitoring plan, especially with regard to
education indicators.
Overall in charge of school supplies (teaching and learning
materials which includes: Making requisitions on quarterly basis of the
required school materials and equipment, Distribution of the same to all
schools in good time for appropriate utilization,
Ensuring regular communication and interaction between the
Education Sector Management staff and teachers, and the school
management committees, Refugee
Education committees, District Education Office, and other development partners and agencies.
Continuing to investigate gender imbalances in education
service provision in the schools, and designing and implementing
initiatives aimed at increasing enrolment and improving retention and
performance of girls in the schools.
Monitoring progress and impact of the primary education unit through regular school visits.
Reviewing annual work plans and activity plans of the unit for
comprehensiveness, clarity and adherence to LWF/DWS Somali Refugee
Assistant Project-Dadaab goals and objectives.
Working with teachers and others to ensure the meaningful participation of learners in all aspects of the unit.
Overseeing data collection and analysis in order to facilitate
accurate and prompt provision of qualitative and quantitative
information that will inform management on administrative and policy
decision making.
Arranging the sharing of ideas between teachers and schools
and coordinating the work of head teachers, school management committees
and school inspectors in the camp.
Participate in all educational and other activities including
midterm reviews organized by the LWF and other CPs like WFP and UNHCR
Professional Qualification:
A degree in education is the preferred qualification. A social science degree in a related discipline would also be considered.
Proven training in curriculum development and implementation, and educational administration.
Proven academic or on-job training and understanding of the Project Cycle model in managing humanitarian assistance.
Relevant Experience:
3 years of progressive experience in primary education programs for refugees or rural communities.
Experience gained within an international humanitarian NGO will be an added advantage.
Strong analytical, administration and documentation skills in
the management of educational institutions or programs consisting of
primary education.
Experience in proposal and report writing and excellent computer skills.
Experience in Training of Trainers/Facilitators skills (TOT & TOF) an advantage.
