Environmental Management Consultant
Cardno Emerging Markets (EA) Ltd is seeking an Environmental Management Consultant to be based in the Nairobi office.
This position will work with the Business development team to develop and manage environmental consultancy work and support ongoing engineering and environmental projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in business development efforts to win and provide effective and efficient delivery of environmental management/engineering services for clients, in accordance with industry standards, project time frames and budgets.
- Support environmental assessment, audit and inspection projects for the company and clients by providing specialist technical input, advice and review.
- Undertake environmental site inspections, impact assessments and evaluations in accordance with national legislation and guidelines
- Prepare environmental management plans to mitigate and minimize environmental impacts
- Assist in obtaining environmental licenses and permits in accordance with national legislation and guidelines
- Develop scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for assigned project elements, including co-ordination of environmental fieldwork and technical studies
- Perform client management tasks to understand and meet expectations and identify and help develop follow-on business opportunities for the company
- Develop scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for assigned project elements
- Monitor project progress and be responsible for project quality and on-schedule and on-budget completion
- Participate in long and short term planning for the Business Unit, and assist with efficient and effective implementation of the Business Units Action Plan.
- Participate in marketing and business development activities including the implementation of marketing action plans for delegated clients.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement activities with clients, communities, land-owners and regulatory authorities. In particular, develop contacts and relationships with clients and key regulatory authorities.
- Manage projects and supervise junior personnel as necessary
- Write and produce high quality reports and documentation
Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Environmental science, environmental engineering or related discipline
- Certification in Environmental assessments and audits
- 3-5 years of combined consulting and/or industry experience in environmental work
- Excellent technical writing, oral communication, and computer skills
- Experience of bidding for and winning environmental projects is highly advantageous
- Ability to liaise with design teams, statutory consultees and clients.
- Project management, in particular management of time, work-plans and budgets.
- Proven client management skills
- Ability to work in a team environment across a multi-site organization
- Ability to travel, nationally, and internationally as needed
