Job Purpose
To promote, position and lead the execution of FilmAid’s theory of social change through strategic distribution of content using various formats; Video, Audio, Theater and Digital media through community outreach, digital and mass media.
Key Duties
·
Develop, implement
and maintain an integrated content distribution strategy to reach identified
communities for maximum impact
·
Develop an
implementation framework from existing grant objectives and indicators and lead
Outreach teams to generate realistic work-plans to realize them.
·
To ensure timely,
quality and coordinated implementation of outreach activities and establish
support mechanisms to assure quality content distribution
·
Drive clear
communications processes within FilmAid, donors, partners and other key
stakeholders regarding key grant objectives, impact reports and human interest
stories through regular updates and reporting mechanisms and ensure timely
submission of quality reports.
·
Ensure a community
based approach and a participatory methodology in all outreach activities: all
locations have relevant messaging committees in comprising relevant
stakeholders including target communities.
·
Oversee the
development of facilitation guides for the films produced, and conduct
facilitation skills training for the relevant teams.
·
Work with the
relevant staff in the preparation of project documents: strategy papers, annual
operations plan, annual budgets, concept proposals, full proposals, progress
reports, donor reports, etc.
·
Work in
collaboration with R&L teams in the development and review of field
monitoring tools as well as in keeping accurate statistics for outreach
activities
·
Work in
collaboration with Creative & Content and R&L teams to conduct
continuous in-depth research to inform both the initial design and subsequent
creation and distribution of all content materials
·
Drive development
of promotional and marketing strategies for content materials in collaboration
with the Creative & Content, Partnership and Communication teams
·
Identify and build
strategic partnerships with relevant partners; Private sector, governmental and
non-governmental to promote the use of FilmAid’s materials in their social
change campaigns
·
Develop and
maintain strategic relationships with the Kenyan media, with a specific focus
on promoting use of FilmAid’s content for mass campaigns
·
Lead FilmAid’s
Digital Media teams and serve as liaison with digital media platforms to
syndicate the use of FilmAid’s materials digitally
·
Ensure positive
visibility of FilmAid and its projects in Kenya on national and international
media and manage all visibility events including film festivals
·
Supervise the
writing of stories on FilmAid and its projects in Kenya and the region
·
Serve as focal
point for the media: Set up media guidelines, organize media excursions, brief
the media and ensure positive publicity of FilmAid
·
Lead the design of
staffing structure, supervision and management for communications teams
(Outreach, Digital Media, Communications) and take a key role in recruitment
including pro-actively determining job descriptions for relevant staff, sitting
in interviews and post-interview processes.
·
Close collaboration
with the Field Managers to ensure the accurate allocation of budgets.
Required
Qualifications and Experience
·
Bachelor’s Degree
in Social/Community Development, Communication/Media, International Development
or a related field
·
4 years experience
in Communication for social change
·
Commensurate
education and years of experience
·
Experience running
public awareness campaigns using community structures and mass media is
desirable
·
Must have knowledge
of the evolving Kenyan media industry including new media, potential political,
cultural and economic impact and how this continues to affect media consumption
in localized contexts
·
Experience working
within an international, multi-lingual environment
·
Commitment to
humanitarian principles and action

Effective
leadership, management and supervision
·
Public Relations /
Marketing/ Networking abilities and relationship maintenance skills
·
Highly developed
communication skills and excellent command of English language, both written
and spoken.
