The Role
Reporting to the Deputy Regional Director of Programmes
you will support the implementation of Plan’s Global Disaster Risk
Management (DRM) Policy and Strategy by building the regional capacity
in disaster management, preparedness and response and the integration of
Disaster Risk Reduction and Response within country and regional level
programmes.
You will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the
implementation of the DRM strategy in 12 country offices and contribute
to global learning and initiatives aimed at strengthening DRM within the
wider organisation.
You will also lead assessment, provide technical support and represent Plan on all major responses within the region.
The Person
You will possess significant experience managing disaster
response and humanitarian work, ideally at a regional level, combined
with knowledge of the Eastern and Southern Africa region.
Experience implementing child-centred and community based
projects in an emergency setting and an understanding of the
child-rights framework and standards for child protection is required.
Type of Role: 5 year fixed term contract
Location: RESA Regional Office in Nairobi with approximately 50% travel within and outside of the region.
Salary: $55000-65000 plus full expatriate benefits.
